Swing dancing around Asia
In the last few years, Asia has exploded Lindy-wise. Since the local language is not always English, we continue to support the Asia Lindy Alliance project to run a website where visitors to Asia or within Asia can be pointed to the most relevant info on dancing in the region.
History of TUESDAY NIGHT SWING
Tuesday Night Swing is the first and longest-running regular swing dance event in Malaysia.
In 2009, at 6 months old, we were on the look-out for a new venue. Again. Bar or restaurant staff usually ended up treating us with anything from caution to disregard.
A dancer suggested we check out the new Sid's Pub in what was then still known as Kampung Kerinchi, but referred to as "Bangsar South" by developers.
So from 2009 until April 2017, Tuesday Night Swing was held at Sid's Pub in Bangsar South. Next door to a 7-Eleven and an Old Town White Coffee.
We were a small bunch when we got there, but the group slowly grew. The 30-min taster class went from being on an ad hoc basis (based on the ad hoc-ness of interested people), to a paid and very full class that required registration.
Thanks to the growth of the scene, we were able to move to our current venue where it's possible to have full length class & social, which was our goal.
We've had many, many great nights there and will always be very grateful to the team at Sid's Pubs, in particular Chendai and Frank, for their support and friendship.
Below are some pix from our time in Sid's, Bangsar South.
