Please also support the venue by purchasing a drink. I'm new to blues. What do I do? Join our quick Taster Class from 8.30pm-9.00pm. No partner or previous dance experience required, just show up on time! Alternatively, join our social anyway - have a drink, enjoy the music, see what we're about. What is blues dancing? Blues dancing developed alongside blues music. It is an improvised partner dance, which has a relaxed grounded feel. Dancers attempt to translate the mood of the music played, with plenty of room for creativity. Some important etiquette for social dancing:
No making fun of or shaming of people's physical features.
No aerials allowed on the dance floor.
You're allowed to say NO to a dance without having to give any reason.
No commenting on a person's dancing while you are in the middle of a dance or even after, unless they specifically ask for feedback.
Absolutely no harrasment, any form of it is unacceptable. If someone is making you uncomfortable, or if you see someone else making someone uneasy, let us know.
